Frequently asked questions
How do I add a custom unit?+
Open the category you want to add to, tap the menu button, and choose "Add Unit." Give it a name and a conversion factor relative to the category's base unit, then save — it appears in the unit list right alongside the built-ins and can be selected as a "from" unit at any time.
Can I rename, hide, or reorder units?+
Yes. From a category's unit list, swipe or use the edit controls to rename or delete units you've added, hide any unit (built-in or custom) you don't want cluttering your list, and drag to reorder. Built-in units can be hidden and reordered, but not deleted or renamed.
Why did a currency conversion change on its own?+
Currency exchange rates refresh automatically once a day when Auto-Update is enabled, so the numbers you see always reflect the latest published rate. If you'd rather keep a rate fixed, turn off currency auto-update in Settings and update it manually whenever you like.
Does the app work without an internet connection?+
Yes. Length, area, speed, angle, temperature, time, mass, volume, fuel economy, pressure, energy, digital storage, and data transfer rate conversions are all stored on your device and work fully offline. Only the daily currency rate refresh requires a network connection — without one, currency conversions simply use the most recently downloaded rates.
How do I change the number format (decimal places, separators)?+
Open Settings from the app's menu. There you can set a fixed number of decimal places (or leave it automatic), and choose which characters are used as the decimal point and thousands separator to match how you read numbers.
How do I switch between light and dark mode?+
In Settings, choose Light, Dark, or System under Appearance. System follows your device's current appearance automatically; Light or Dark keeps the app fixed regardless of your device setting.
Is my data backed up or synced anywhere?+
My Unit Converters doesn't require an account and doesn't sync to a server. Your custom units, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, that local data is removed with it, so we recommend not deleting the app if you have custom units you'd like to keep.
Why am I seeing ads in the app?+
My Unit Converters shows a small banner ad to help keep the app free. Ads don't affect conversion accuracy or app performance, and no personal conversion data is shared with ad networks.
Common fixes
Try these first — most issues are resolved without needing to contact support.
Currency rates look out of date+
Confirm you have an internet connection, then check that Currency Auto-Update is turned on in Settings. Rates refresh once every 24 hours; if you just installed the app or haven't opened it in a while, rates update the next time you launch it with a connection.
A unit I added or edited disappeared+
Check whether it was hidden rather than deleted — hidden units stay in your data but are filtered out of the visible list. Open the category's edit view and look for a "Show hidden units" or similar toggle to bring it back.
The app looks or behaves unexpectedly after an update+
Try closing the app completely (swipe it away from the app switcher) and reopening it. If the issue persists, restarting your device resolves most display glitches. Your custom units and settings are unaffected by either step.
